The wisdom of life, the book with all its guidelines and secrets, the codex, can be found in the forest. Codex is derived from the Latin caudex, meaning âtrunk of a tree.â The lowest part of the trunk, which connects to the roots, is where two worlds meet in the binding principles of life: âabove groundâ and âundergroundâ.
Here, the forest’s soul can be found, the marketplace where all traffic streams from earth (upwards, water, minerals) and sun and air (downwards, sugars, after photosynthesis) are exchanged, the roundabout on the highway of life.
This meeting point is where growth and development are coordinated, the past, present, and future meet, and the counterpoint is where life starts. Vincent van Gogh painted this meeting point, Tree Roots, as only he could: colourful and straight to the heart. He understood. It was his last painting, âdigging deepâ into the essence of life.

The flow of life is a lesson in itself. Perceiving, analysing and learning from it is wise. It is listening to nature if you go with it. The palette of streams, sediments and resistances is seen from above. An eagle view.

An intervention can be powerful. If the system is mainly yellow-based, then blue can ignite change. Sometimes, it is needed for a better course or outcome to interfere with a condition or a process to prevent harm or improve functioning (Merriam-Webster).
The print is positioned in this office lobby as a permanent reminder that this powerful instrument is and should always be directly available for all the employees of this organisation. It is there to stimulate involvement in good governance. Intervention is considered as key for innovation, and not as a disturbance of the existing. It is an encouragement to participate.
Change can start – in a metaphoric way-, with an intervention, with just one stroke of a brush.

This window in Cådiz breathes karma. I like this colour palette with the carmine red window, black bars, pastel yellow wall, and the greys with the fine line of golden sapphire. Clean, safe and secure in the quietness of siesta time.
