Un Paisaje Icónico

After the harvest, this Carmona landscape turns into an iconic landscape. The yellow path is astonishing and an almost adventurous one. It cuts through the elegant curves of the hills. The palette of colours is dreamy. At the same time, it is realistic: the picture shows us just as it is at this time of the year, no more or less.

More so is this in-depth perspective from an ecological point of view. It leads to the fact that this painting should ring all the alarm bells on how we treat our earth. In fact, it is a man-made desert without any life other than the agricultural products we harvest.

The Lines of Gaudí

The lines of Antoni Gaudí are second to none. They are unique and organic designs by the master. I accepted a personal challenge to consider and draw the perspective of one of the centurions, guardians or watchers in the sky, present on the roof of Casa Milà. I preferred a white, serene expression.

Lessons from the Oystercatcher

Much can be derived from the Oystercatcher (scholekster) in the world of governance and management. In particular, the territorial behaviour during breeding is packed with exciting study material. In the colony, a “pecking order” takes effect. First come, first served and finding the ideal habitat as a nesting place, close to where the oysters and scoops can be found.

The clear lessons by Paul Valens, our master on where ecology meets strategy, inspired me to study this exceptional bird. I painted it in Nieuwvliet-Bad, The Netherlands. A drawing including depth of focus.

The Cliffs of England

The cliffs along the south coast of England can give a bright, far-away perspective and a view of the different layers of this landscape. This rectangle archival pigment print of the landscape represents a reflective reminder of the layers of life.

Diversity in the City

The diversity in the city is noteworthy. Many communities live side by side, each having fibres and fragrances. For public governance, it is essential to respect them and take care of a wide range of policy-making and implementation.
