Dominating Frame

The Four Freedoms, articulated in 1941 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, are about four fundamental freedoms that people “everywhere in the world” ought to enjoy: speech, worship, want and fear. In 2023, more and more citizens will not experience (one of) these freedoms. It is often the (absolute) power of governing institutions over the people which develops a dominating frame with rules and regulations. It then leaves the citizen with hardly any breathing space, creativity and freedom in its living world.

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas with Pantone® colours Black 6c (system world) and Terra Cotta (citizen) is perfect for a modern, classic and reflective look in home and office interiors. It is an urgent reminder of how rules and regulations reduce freedom and creativity. The Pantone® colour Bright White (living world) is missing.

Stimulating Frame

The Four Freedoms, articulated in 1941 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, are about four fundamental freedoms that people “everywhere in the world” ought to enjoy: speech, worship, want and fear. For that, a stimulating and wide frame by the government (and its system world) is needed, if not conditional. It will give the citizen maximum breathing space, creativity and freedom in its living world. Four freedoms would be great.

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas with Pantone® colours Bright White (living world), Black 6c (system world) and Terra Cotta (citizen) is perfect for a modern, classic and reflective look in home and office interiors. It is a reminder of how a stimulating frame contributes to freedom.

Cultural Heritage

Cultural heritage is the felt DNA of society. The soft and warm perspective of past days (Pastel Yellow) contrasts with the hectic world of today (Chili Pepper). The system world of rules and regulations (Jet Black) is permanently felt and omnipresent. Unexplored territories and challenges are there too, forming the new building blocks for the future of the living world (Snow White). In this city DNA, these Pantone® colours meet.

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas is custom-made for this apartment in the heart of the city of Amsterdam. It is a reminder on the wall of the colourful dynamics in society as a combined perspective from past, present and future.

Lost in the City

The citizen and the city. Many novels, philosophies, songs and poems have been written about this relation. From the daily perspective of city governance, many stories about life in the city can be told. The idea came up to express the city’s canvas as the 64 fields of the chess board. An eagle view from above. There, the living and the system world meet and form the fibre of society. The citizen can be lost and get disconnected from the system of society.

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas with Pantone® Bright White (living world), Pantone® Black 6c (system world), and Pantone® Terra Cotta (citizen) is perfect for a modern, classic and reflective look in home and office interiors. It is an urgent reminder on the wall that getting lost in the city is not to be wished for as it is highly uncomfortable and lonely.
