Path to Horizon

Kruf, J. (2023) Path to Horizon [fine art print]. Breda: Private collection.
The path to the horizon starts here and now. It contains unknown adventures and changing perspectives in the philosophy of the landscape.

Un Paisaje Icónico

After the harvest, this Carmona landscape turns into an iconic landscape. The yellow path is astonishing and an almost adventurous one. It cuts through the elegant curves of the hills. The palette of colours is dreamy. At the same time, it is realistic: the picture shows us just as it is at this time of the year, no more or less.

More so is this in-depth perspective from an ecological point of view. It leads to the fact that this painting should ring all the alarm bells on how we treat our earth. In fact, it is a man-made desert without any life other than the agricultural products we harvest.

The Cliffs of England

The cliffs along the south coast of England can give a bright, far-away perspective and a view of the different layers of this landscape. This rectangle archival pigment print of the landscape represents a reflective reminder of the layers of life.

Storm is coming

© Jack Kruf (2008) Storm is coming [digital]. Breda: Private collection

Storm is coming over Elba. The storm clouds hunt the ferry down and will soon role over it. It was between the Italian mainland and this mystic island, by the way on a beautiful summer’s day. It is one of those moments in life when seeking shelter and safety for this storm and rain was really urgent and factually last second. It was short but fierce.

It is always on this evening – the 31st of January – when I remember my father’s stories on the evening when the raging storm in 1953 arrived in our hometown, Halsteren. It brought over miles of land the sea (5 meter high) only a few hundreds of meters from his house, taking peoples houses, farms and life’s. He would ride out that night to help and rescue.
