Crossroads

The story behind

Finding your way in the world of laws, rules and regulations (taupe) can be quite challenging. It is a true network of alleys, paths, lanes, roads and crossroads, ready   to be discovered. It starts with some understanding of our legal system. For the most of us not really a priority. Recommended to know something about it, because it supports ruling our society in general and our life in particular. So be inspired by this abstract beauty. Don’t worry the roadblocks (black and red). An art impression.

Wall art

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas with Pantone® colours Black 6c, High Risk Red and Taupe is perfect for a modern, classic and reflective look in home and office interiors. It is a reminder how the landscape of rules and regulations can be challenging to find your freedom and creativity.

Dominating Frame

The story behind

The Four Freedoms, articulated in 1941 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, are about four fundamental freedoms that people “everywhere in the world” ought to enjoy, that of speech, worship, want and fear. Anno 2023 more and more citizens do not experience (one of) these freedoms. It is often the (absolute) power of governing institutions over the people which develop a dominating frame with rules and regulations. It then leaves the citizen with hardly any breathing space, creativity and freedom in its living world.

Wall art

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas with Pantone® colours Black 6c (system world) and Terra Cotta (citizen) is perfect for a modern, classic and reflective look in home and office interiors. It is an urgent reminder how rules and regulations reduce freedom and creativity. The Pantone® colour Bright White (living world) is missing.

Stimulating Frame

The story behind

The Four Freedoms, articulated in 1941 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, are about four fundamental freedoms that people “everywhere in the world” ought to enjoy, that of speech, worship, want and fear. Four freedoms would be great.

Cultural heritage

The story behind

Cultural heritage is the felt DNA of society. The soft and warm perspective of past days (Pastel Yellow) contrasts with the hectic world of today (Chili Pepper). The system world of rules and regulations (Jet Black) is permanently felt and being omnipresent. Unexplored territories and challenges are there too, forming the new building blocks for the future of the living world (Snow White). In this city DNA, these Pantone® colours meet.

Wall art

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas is custom made for this appartement in the heart of the city of Amsterdam. It is a reminder on the wall of the colourful dynamics in society as a combined perspective from past, present and future.

Lost in the City

The story behind

The citizen and the city. Many novels, philosophies, songs and poems have been written about this relation. From the daily perspective of city governance a myriad of stories about life in the city can to be told. The idea came up to express the canvas of the city as the 64 fields of the chess board. An eagle view, from above. There the living and the system world meet and form the fibre of society. The citizen can be lost and get disconnected with life as well as the system.

System World Canvas

The story behind

Philosopher Jürgen Habermas distinguishes the living world and the system world. In the living world people and teams live and communicate between equals, based on arguments and without power. It is the world where love and friendship are leading and daily life dominates. It is the white canvas on which we are born, walk, live and die.

In the system world the instrumental rationality is used and says or dictates what and who is necessary to achieve a goal or to carry out a task. It is the world of rules, regulations, procedures and guidelines. It is the black canvas, in fact the chess board, on which most decisions of public governance are made. In the background though we find the living world, not dominant but present.

Wall art

This rectangle archival pigment print of the city canvas with Pantone® Bright White and Pantone® Black 6c is perfect for a modern, classic and reflective look in home and office interiors. In the system world the instrumental rationality is used and says or dictates what and who is necessary to achieve a goal or to carry out a task. It is the world of rules and regulations. It is the other world, represented as a black canvas, here in the background and not dominant.

Ukraine Chess Board

The story behind

The colors of Ukraine represent the ‘sky’ (blue) and the ‘wheat’ (yellow). Anno 2023 Ukraine is the chess board of autonomy and sovereignty, literally and figuratively. The Russian invasion at the end of February 2022, seems to be about expanding the empire of Great Russia Peter the Great, possibly about confiscating the fertile grounds of Ukraine,

This chess board has become a metaphor for the fight for democracy and freedom, against autocracy and unfreedom. That presently the most felt and communicated semantic differential in the West, but possibly and even more likely history will tell us that there is more under the sun.

Wall art

This rectangle archival pigment print in the national colours of Ukraine is a strong reminder on the wall, how fragile democracy, dignity and freedom are and that fight. The Ukraine chess board is the playing field for strategic, tactic and operational thinking and acting starts with this magic board palette.

Nikola into the Future

Photo taken from Nikola/Hyla.

There was an engineer called Nikola Tesla. And there are the motor companies Nikola and Tesla. Both like to be associated with the brilliance and originality of this man. Both are working on new and innovative concepts of transport. Both are about the future, bringing us from the old and present fossil world to a new more sustainable and cleaner world. The first with about hydrogen, the second about electric energy. Here we highlight Nikola.

Hydrogen is an eco-friendly element that plays a vital role in sustaining life. No other energy carrier is as abundant as hydrogen, making it the ideal solution for creating a zero-emissions world.

HYLA, is the hydrogen solution of Nikola provides cost-effective solutions for hydrogen production, distribution, and dispensing. When combined with the Nikola Tre fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) it emits zero carbon, with water being the only byproduct. This approach solves the hydrogen fuel supply challenge to transition the commercial trucking industry to zero-emissions.
