This young fly agaric (Amanita muscaria, L.) shines on the forest floor with its beautiful colours. It quietly tells the story of the deal it made with the trees above him. Trade it is. Receive sugars, give minerals. It knows that without this deal, the trees should be as big as the agaric itself. Do we enter the domain of politics here?

Once, a pristine forest was covering the earth. The total area is highly reduced. Recall the forest is essential in an overall humanly steered system world. Let us not forget.
On what is now the edge of a forest I found this 35 meter mighty pedunculate oak (zomereik, Quercus robur L.) in late evening light. The rich palette of its trunk tells the story. From 10 meter above ground onwards it had decided, many years ago, to form the basis of its mighty crown. It has become a place full of life.
