Dominating Frame

The Four Freedoms, articulated in 1941 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, are about four fundamental freedoms that people “everywhere in the world” ought to enjoy: speech, worship, want and fear. In 2023, more and more citizens will not experience (one of) these freedoms. It is often the (absolute) power of governing institutions over the people which develops a dominating frame with rules and regulations. It then leaves the citizen with hardly any breathing space, creativity and freedom in its living world.

The Four Freedoms, articulated in 1941 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, are about four fundamental freedoms that people “everywhere in the world” ought to enjoy: speech, worship, want and fear. For that, a stimulating and wide frame by the government (and its system world) is needed, if not conditional. It will give the citizen maximum breathing space, creativity and freedom in its living world. Four freedoms would be great.

Planet Finance

Planet Finance geeft geen beleggingstips en is ook geen kruistocht tegen bankiers of de rijkste 1 procent, maar kijkt achter de glanzende gevels van het grote geld. Marije Meerman reist langs een bonte stoet van traders, shortsellers en valutagoeroes, door een onvoorspelbare en veelal ondoorzichtige wereld waar rendement lonkt. Een wereld met de reputatie dat je er slapend rijk kunt worden en werkend arm blijft.

In deze zesdelige documentaireserie neemt Marije Meerman je mee naar Planet Finance. Wie wonen en werken daar? Wat voor taal spreken ze? Wat is het nut van deze planeet, én wat maakt deze financiële wereld voor zo veel mensen zo aantrekkelijk?

Na een introductie op de beursvloer en een spoedcursus ‘rijk worden aan risico’ komen we terecht op de oliefuturesmarkt waar nog niet zo heel lang geleden olie even gratis (!!!) was.

Meerman ontmoet in Japan vrouwen die in valuta handelen en kijkt hoe beleggers in Chbina en Hong Kong zich verlekkerd opmaken voor de grootste beursgang ooit. Bij haar bezoek aan een afgebrand bos in Californië ontdekt zij dat je op Planet Finance kan verdienen aan een mogelijke ramp.

Tot slot onderzoekt Meerman de macht van een collectief van particuliere beleggers op een markt die gedomineerd wordt door het grote geld.

Fragmented Forest

Fragmentation of the forest reduces the quality and diversity of the ecosystem. Roads (white) and system borders (black) are really the main causes of the decline. Roads are for humans not for forests. They serve as carriers for leisure in, exploitation and destruction (red) of the natural habitats. Forest simply can not handle human dynamics.
